Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Festival located?

The village park is located between Walnut and Park Streets in Ashville, Ohio, 30 minutes south of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Check our Directions page for a map and detailed directions.

What are the hours of the Festival?

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:oo p.m.

Can I carry weapons at the festival?

Allowable weapons include, but are not limited to: axes, swords, daggers, knives, dirks, claymores, halberds, maces, hammers, spears, bows and arrows, and pikes.

Except for approved reenactors, all weapons must be secured or “peace tied” to the guest at all times in a holster protecting the blade and may not be removed from the holster. Any exposed blade or point must be of stage combat grade and must not pose a risk of injury to the guest or others. Arrows being carried as costume adornment must be “peace tied” together and/or have the arrow tips removed.

The festival information table will assist guests with the securing of weapons. Any person in possession of a weapon that is determined to be unsafe or unable to be made safe will be requested to secure it in their vehicle or remove it from the festival.

May I bring my pet to the festival?

Service Animals specifically trained to aid a person with a specific disability are welcome.

We love our animal friends and understand how fun it is to include them in our outdoor activities; however, the Ashville Viking Festival is not a good place for pets. Not only can various locations become crowded, but some performances utilize animals including birds of prey, and our live entertainment stages can be hard on animal’s sensitive ears. Because of these issues we recommend that you do not bring your pets.

Are you still accepting vendors and how do I apply to be a vendor?

To apply to be a vendor, please complete the vendor application  and include photos of your products and setup. Our vendor process requires that applications be reviewed by our vendor selection committee. Approved vendors need to be accepted in time to include them in the festival layout. As such, please complete the application and email them with the necessary photos as early as possible.

Are you still accepting performers and how do I apply?

Please complete the performer application and send it to the email listed on the form. Once completed, our performance manager will be in contact.

Please explain why reenactors should come to a festival.

This is your chance to educate and interract with people you would not see at a typical reenactment. Visitors will see camps and displays set-up by re-enactors from many different time periods. Living historians spanning 2500 years of military history will be wearing clothing and uniforms from their chosen time period or conflict and have equipment and weapons to show and describe.

Reenactors should fill out the reenactor application.

How much food did the festival collect for the Ashville Food Pantry at the last event?

The Ashville Viking Festival collected 123 boxes of food for the food pantry in 2022. Great job everyone! Thank you for your donations!
